PetroEyes collects limited data to run the site, understand aggregate readership, and answer contact requests. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how readers can manage their choices.
1. What we collect and why
PetroEyes has no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter, and no payments, so there is no profile of you stored on the site. What we do receive falls into three groups:
- Technical request data: like every website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type, and the page requested so it can deliver the page and block abusive traffic.
- Aggregate analytics: if you allow analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 records page views, traffic sources, and engagement so we can see which research pages are read and which are not.
- Contact form messages: when you use the contact form, we receive the name, reply address, and message you type, and use them only to answer you. We never sell or share them for marketing.

3. Advertising and cookies
PetroEyes has not placed any ad units in its pages. The Google AdSense script loads so the site can be reviewed by Google; it can display automatic ads only if they are switched on in the site's AdSense account, and this policy will be updated when the site starts showing ads deliberately.

- Ask us to delete a contact-form message and our reply.
- Withdraw or change consent for analytics and advertising cookies where consent controls are available, or through your browser settings.
- Object to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.
6. Data Retention & Security
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymized after 26 months. We employ industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, Cloudflare DDoS protection, and secure server infrastructure to protect your data.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
PetroEyes is written for adult readers, students, and analysts and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please tell us through the contact form linked below.
